Upgraded kiln line successfully commissioned during COVID crisis

– Project objectives exceeded – Clinker production capacity increased by over 40% –

Qazax Sement Zavodu LLC (QSZ) together with Sustained Visions (SUSVI), DAL Teknik Makina (DAL)  and CemProtec GmbH have successfully accomplished the upgrade project of the kiln line in Gazakh, Azerbaijan under toughest surrounding conditions and during the peaktime of the COVID crisis.

Kiln 1 at QSZ was built by a Chinese OEM and commissioned in 2013 with a daily clinker production capacity of 2400 tpd.

The upgrade project comprised an upgrade of the Raw Mill, the Preheater section, the Kiln, Clinker Cooler and clinker transport.

The key equipment of the Raw Mill and Preheater section was supplied and installed by DAL Teknik Makina from Turkey. The new highly-efficient SmartGlider® clinker cooler was delivered and installed by CemProtec GmbH, Germany.

The plant was upgraded in two phases from a daily clinker production of 2400 tpd to 3550 tpd.  A significant reduction in specific energy consumption and CO² emission has been achieved and the production shows very stable performance.

The initial project objective in terms of clinker production capacity was exceeded by 8% at low energy consumption as typical for modern preheater kilns.

SUSVI is cooperating closely with QSZ since 2017. During peak times of the project, SUSVI had a team of five experts on site, including the Project manager, Quality surveyors and supervisors managing the various subcontractors.

QSZ has issued a Letter of Reference (and expressed their satisfaction with the performance of the SUSVI team.
